There are many ways to properly grow cannabis seeds. Many people think that there is nothing difficult in this: throw a seed into the ground and wait for a shoot.
But growers with experience know that it's not that simple. The hemp seed has its own shelf life - 5 years, but this is subject to proper storage, in a dry place, with 20-23% humidity, without physical damage. The shell of the seed hardens every year more and more and it will simply be more difficult for it to break through the shell. But it is also impossible to throw a seed into the substrate too early, it must "rest".
Hemp seeds are a seed material that contains all the information about the variety, and if you damage the seed, you may not get a harvest at all.
With a good climate and comfortable temperature, the seed can germinate in 3-7 days. A good seed can grow anywhere: in water, on a cotton pad, on a napkin, on a sponge, or on a peat capsule. But at the same time, the yield does not give the same.
How to germinate cannabis seeds in water
Germinating cannabis seeds is not difficult, and even very simple: throw all the seeds that you want to germinate into a glass of water (or any other container) and leave for a few days. Make sure that the seeds start up the root, as soon as this happens, you can throw it into the ground.
If the seed does not open after 7 days, then it may be empty (without a seedling inside) or expired (it has been stored for more than 5 years).
Important! The soil should be fertilized and have a neutral acidity pH - 5.8-6.2.
How to germinate hemp seeds on a cotton pad, napkin
Be sure to wet a cotton pad or napkin and make sure that they do not dry out during the germination period. It is important that the napkin or disk is free from dyes, flavors and other impurities. Place a napkin or disk in a shallow bowl with edges and cover with cling film, make small holes in it. It creates its own humid microclimate, which is ideal for the germination of hemp seeds.
At each stage, you need to make sure that the root does not reach a large length, otherwise you will have to untangle it from a cotton pad (damage to the root during this operation is 80%, which can lead to plant weakness and crop loss). As soon as the grain opens, it can be planted in the ground to a depth of no more than 5 centimeters.
The main factors of germination:
- 1. Filtered water, it must be clean without unnecessary microorganisms that can provoke plant diseases in the first stages of growth. The same water is worth watering hemp during its life.
- 2. High humidity not less than 75%. A seed cannot open without water.
- 3. Air temperature approx. 25-30°C. Sunlight is also important.
Germination of seeds in a peat granule, tablet
The most convenient way of germination, which gives the plant the necessary elements at the very first stage of life.
What to do with it? Place a seed in the center of the peat tablet. Place the tablet itself with the seed in a deep container, the bottom of which is strewn with drainage, and pour water into this container so that it almost covers the tablet. When the first leaves appear and the plant gets a little stronger, you can transplant it into a pot. It must be at least 7 liters. The plant itself does not need to be taken out of the tablet, but planted in a pot along with the tablet.
How to germinate cannabis seeds in the ground
The seed itself is covered with a dense shell, and in order to penetrate it, the plant needs to make a lot of effort. Water helps the seed with this problem; without moisture, it will not open. Therefore, the soil should be very wet, it should be watered only with filtered water.
The seed is planted to a depth of 5 centimeters, in a moist, pre-fertilized substrate. It must be fertilized in moderation and wisely, otherwise you can spoil the soil and make it unusable. For the growing season, nitrogen fertilizer is necessary, it will help the plant grow faster and give good flowering.
