Scrog method - what are the advantages
Content:

The task of the grower is to maximize the productivity of the plant. Besides the help of nature, the gardener's hand can control the plant, improving its performance and increasing yields, and one of the best methods for this is the SrcOG (or Screen of Green) method.

What is the srcOG method? The concept of SrcOG (and the practice of Scrogging) is a well-known term in cannabis cultivation, but if you're not familiar with the technique, it can seem like a complicated process and too much of a risk for your next crop. However, every grower who has taken a leap into the unknown with SrcOG rarely returns to regular growing. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about the SrcOG training method on cannabis plants.

What is a green screen?

The green screen is a method of training marijuana plants that uses a large mesh (screen) suspended above the plants. Through this sieve, the cannabis stalks are intertwined (a process also known as tucking) to promote horizontal rather than vertical growth.

Over time, this creates a canopy that completely covers the entire mesh, exposing more areas of the buds to light and providing even coverage of the flowers, producing a sea of solid buds of the same size.

Why is the srcOG method recommended for cannabis?

There are three main benefits of using the marijuana plant training method (SrcOG): space, light, and air.

Firstly, this is the maximum use of space, especially in the grow box. This method allows the grower to grow fewer plants, but get more yield.

Another advantage of the SrcOG method for cannabis is the improvement in plant light compared to traditional growing methods, where light concentration creates thicker buds at the top of the plants, while buds on the lower branches are reduced in size and density.

Finally, this growing method allows for better air circulation between the branches of the plants, minimizing the risk of mold.

What equipment is needed to grow cannabis srcOG?

Skrog is easy to make with your own hands in a few minutes. An important element of the kit is a garden coarse net, which allows the grower to intertwine the stems of cannabis plants and stimulate their growth horizontally.

The screen is inexpensive and readily available, and comes with mounts that allow you to simply attach it to grow tent poles. If your grow space isn't the same size, it's just as easy to make (plastic wire with large holes can be cut to size and secured in place with cable ties).

Many scroggers like this method as it allows you to get the maximum yield from the minimum number of plants - one or two plants can easily fill a growing space following the cannabis scrolling technique. Another very useful piece of equipment is a thick, flexible garden string to hold the branches in place during the SrcOG process.

What are the best cannabis strains to use in the SCROG system?

For skrog, feminized marijuana seeds are perfect. But this method works especially well for sativa strains that naturally gravitate more towards the light (causing space issues in the grow box).

Photoperiod cannabis varieties that give excellent results with this growing method are Amnesia and Atomical Haze, Ice Cream and Durga Mata, as well as Opium and Nebula.

The SrcOG method is still very popular with growers all over the world. We do not encourage the use of this or any other methods for the cultivation of marijuana in countries where it is prohibited by law, the material is provided for informational purposes, follow the laws of your country, absorb new knowledge and be healthy!
