FIM hemp trimming became known after 2000. At the time, a grower who wished to remain anonymous shared his method in a magazine. Moreover, this technique appeared quite by accident - during cultivation, the grower accidentally missed when pruning the top of the bush and pinched off only part of it. After a certain period, he noticed that this mistake led to the appearance of many tops on the plant that grew from the first cut. As a result, we managed to grow many big cones instead of just one. Since that time, fim pruning has become a revolutionary and legendary method that is now actively used during the cultivation of marijuana.

Why do FIM trimming of cannabis
Sometimes you look at a completely healthy and vigorous marijuana bush, and you begin to think about whether you need to prune the hemp. In fact, this method can significantly increase the yield of the bush. FIM pruning involves pinching off a certain part of the plant - the top needs to be trimmed in such a way as to leave the whole 10-30% of its part of the total height.
After pruning, 3-8 new branches will appear at the cut site. In this situation, cannabis stops focusing only on the rapid growth of the central cola, switching to forming branches again. As a result, several large stakes appear on the marijuana, which will be very similar in size to the central one. The bush also becomes denser, with more branches. This leads to the appearance of many cones on it, which will give a generous harvest in the future. This technology only slightly injures the bush, but development does not slow down.
FIM hemp trimming is carried out for the following purposes:
- obtaining plant cuttings to grow marijuana hydroponically;
- reducing the height of the bush to fit it into the overall landscape of the grow box;
- Cutting off the top for subsequent grinding and use as infuser for herbal tea (you need to soak the leaves in boiling water for several minutes).
With this pruning, it is possible not only to give the marijuana bush an optimal shape, but it will also be possible to limit the development of the bushes in the vertical plane, stimulating them to grow in width.
How and when to do fim pruning
Pruning should not be done during flowering, as this will negatively affect the yield. Also, when performing this procedure repeatedly, it is important not to overdo it, since the bush can be damaged. After pinching off, the plant should be given a few days to rest so that branches begin to appear from the cut.

1. Carry out FIM trimming of marijuana during the growing season.
2. It is worth trimming the top when at least 5 growth nodes are formed on the cannabis bush. If the length of the cannabis life cycle allows, then pruning should be done after 3 months of life.
3. The optimal time of day to perform pruning is morning. This way, the marijuana plant will have extra daylight hours to properly recover.
4. In this situation, it is worth using special accessories for grow boxes - small scissors to do everything neatly and not catch other parts bush.
5. For several days after pinching off the top, the plant should rest - it should be protected from any stress. Proper rest will speed up the formation of new branches.
Pruning cannabis is a fairly stressful process that is not suitable for all varieties of plants. Therefore, it is best to carry out this procedure on feminized photoperiod varieties or very stress-resistant autoflowers.
